A good rack for
Having to carry at least two kayaks can be hard on a compact sedan or like us a 4x4 with lifted suspension. To get around these problems we use these side loading racks from Sweden. The compact sedan is too narrow to get two or three kayaks on the roof with 'keel' down type racks. With these side loading racks it allows just enough room for three. The 4x4 is a different problem in that it is too high to load easily with any rack, so we use a 7x5 trailer with the roof rack bars fixed to it. The Hull-A-Port racks then allow us to carry four kayaks with ease. The Hull-A-Port is easy to fit, if you can construct flat pack furniture and the kayaks have always remained in place when held down with the supplied straps even on rough, off bitumen tracks. The compact sedan allows for the racks to remain in situ when accessing underground car parks without the kayaks as the Hull-A-Port folds down to give clearance. A good rack for multi kayak transportation.
